Psychedelic-assisted Psychotherapy
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is an innovative treatment that uses these substances to help patients access altered states of consciousness and explore deeper aspects of their psyche. Although this approach may seem controversial at first glance, it has shown promising results in the treatment of several forms of mental suffering.
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy can be used to treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and addiction. This therapy is often considered an option for people who have already tried other treatments without significant results.
The psychedelics are administered in a safe and controlled setting, under the supervision of a qualified therapist. The substances are not addictive and are known to increase synaptic plasticity. Therefore, they do not cause any brain damage or physical (cardiac etc.) disturbances. The risk of complications (i.e. anxiety or persistent changes in perception) is low in a therapeutic setting, and can be treated with medication given during or after the session.
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy helps patients connect with their emotions and thoughts in a deeper way, as well as develop greater self-awareness, overcome past trauma, and improve their well-being. The effects of therapy typically last a long time and may, in some cases, be permanent.
To carry out a session, the authorization from the Federal Office of Public Health, which assesses the indications for treatment, is necessary.
I offer this therapeutic tool in our practice, convinced by scientific evidence and my clinical activity that it represents a true revolution in mental health.
